Rude and an art leech - IMPORTANT

DA user "Sir-Knite" apparently ran a contest or something to get fanart of his characters. He then posted a couple journal entries calling all of the art he received "shit", and complaining about how he hates when he gets fanart and it all sucks.

Personally, I would be flattered to receive fanart of my characters. That's an indication someone liked my characters enough to draw them in their own style. That is free art that someone made simply out of admiration and as a gift.

You know a really good way to ensure you never ever ever get any kind of art again, free or otherwise? Insult the artists and cry about how all of this art you didn't pay ANYTHING for isn't up to your high faluting standards. He was apparently using a contest of some kind to bribe people into it -- with nothing, nothing, and nothing as the top prizes -- so I'm pretty sure it wasn't just out of admiration for his characters, but hey... One look at his gallery shows he's not exactly in a position to be insulting other peoples' art. Like many people, myself included, he has a lot of progress to make.

And I think in more areas than just artistic skill. Here's a lovely picture by SOZOMAIKA for that contest.

This is REALLY GOOD art, let alone for a contest where you're being expected to put in time and effort for minimal reward. He called it, along with all the other art people invested time and effort and creative energy into, "shit". There was LOTS of other really good art. Maybe it wasn't all professional, some of it was artists still learning their own styles and improving and so on, but hey, they put in the effort -- without expecting any reward.

And they were treated like garbage for it.

The contest he is running didn't even have any rewards at all. I don't know what he was expecting in terms of quality, but it's pretty clear he just wanted a bunch of free art for no effort on his part.

I'd like to recommend that no one give TheDarkKnite anything else in the future -- or at least not until he has both made a sincere apology and had plenty of time to make up for his rudeness and mature a little bit. Spread the word: This is someone to be avoided.

EDIT: Also, apparently his complaint was he wanted the art of his characters to all be "pregnant and sexy". When he never specified that or gave any directions at all.

EDIT #2: After I let him know I was going to be discouraging people from ever giving him art ever again he took down the two journals he made insulting people. Guess the kid got scared because he realized how badly he effed up. I'm not taking this down though. I am going to continue making sure everyone knows to avoid him and never give him anything.
